Make Next Season Easier While This One is Still Fresh
What worked, what didn’t, and what could make next season better
Whether your season is still going strong or starting to slow down, now is a good time to capture what you’ve learned.
By next season, it can be hard to remember exactly where you needed more help, which roles worked well, or what kept causing problems. A few notes now can give you a much better starting point later.
Start with what worked well. Make note of the employees, roles, routines or approaches that helped things run smoothly. These are the things worth repeating next season.
Write down what didn’t work. Think about where you lost time, had ongoing staffing challenges, or found yourself stepping in more often than expected. These are good signs that something may need to change.
Look for the gaps. You may have needed more people during certain weeks, a different skill on the team, clearer responsibilities, or more time to train someone properly.
Decide what you’d change next time. That could mean hiring earlier, changing a role, bringing strong seasonal employees back, adjusting training, or organizing the work differently.
You don’t need to build next season’s staffing plan today. The goal is simply to capture what you know now, before the details are forgotten.
When it’s time to plan and hire again, you’ll already know where to start.
